Problem Solving Models

“Getting innovative results requires more than getting the right people in the room. You must have a process, process skills, tools and an understanding of each other’s problem solving styles to generate innovative results.” – Basadur Applied Creativity

At THiNKSPOT, we offer several problem solving methods to help you and your team solve complex problems and come up with innovative ideas and actions. We’ve been trained in the facilitation of the Simplexity Thinking System and StrategicPlay® with LEGO®.

The Simplexity Thinking System

The Simplexity Thinking System was created and developed by Min Basadur. It is a framework that introduces objectivity into the process of identifying and defining the problem. The system requires a safe and non-threatening environment where participants can engage in uninhibited thinking – a free-range thinking process – that explores possibilities on the premise of “how might we” do something and THiNKSPOT is the perfect place to put it in practice.

We have been trained in the facilitation of the Simplexity Thinking system and can provide this model as a framework for brainstorming solutions to your complex problems.

StrategicPlay® with LEGO®

StrategicPlay with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ (LSP) is a Lloyd Smith Solution and it requires a hands-on methodology. It is an innovative tool designed to enhance business performance. Through the facilitated tool you will be able to explore the relationships and connections between people and their worlds in new and enlightening ways.

Participants create models of the problems, called artifacts, which hold all sorts of relevant information on the problem. By doing this, you are freeing your mind up to focus on the more juicy bits – the parts where the real insights will flow from. By not restricting yourself to simply using words to solve problems, you remove some of the limitations to speech. The subconscious mind can create a deeper meaning through metaphor and analogy, which can only be accessed if you get rid of all the noise and clutter.
